The Pilot Parallel 2.4 mm is a mid-width pen in the Parallel calligraphy series, using the same flat, parallel double-plate nib design as the rest of the range: two thin metal plates set side by side spread ink evenly across the tip, so the pen holds a clean line as it's rotated, rather than scratching or skipping at certain angles.

At this width, the pen produces a 2.4 mm down-stroke with a 0.5 mm side hairline, a balance that works well for Gothic lettering, Roman capitals, and other hand-lettering styles where stroke contrast matters but the letterforms still need to stay legible at a working size. Keeping the flat nib in full contact with the page helps the ink lay down evenly with minimal feathering, including on heavier or textured cardstock. The ink feed is optimized for Pilot Mixable Color cartridges, and the cap is orange, matching the pen's internal section. For larger-format lettering, the Pilot Parallel 3.8 mm uses the same nib system at a wider stroke width.
