The Pilot V-Pen Silver, also sold as the Varsity, is a fountain pen built to be used straight out of the package and thrown away once the ink runs out — there's no cartridge to load, no converter to fill, and no ink bottle involved. It still writes with a genuine stainless steel medium nib rather than a standard ballpoint or rollerball tip, so it carries the same line variation and paper feel as a refillable fountain pen, just without the upkeep.

Ink is supplied through a sealed capillary reservoir built into the barrel, which keeps the flow steady and skip-free down to the last drop, and a clear window along the side lets you see how much ink is left. The nib glides smoothly across most paper without scratching or catching, making it suited to everyday note-taking, signing documents, or writing letters by hand.
