The Sakura Koi 12-Piece Pocket Field Sketch Box pairs a basic set of half-pan watercolor cakes with a case built to double as a mini field studio rather than just a storage box. The lid flips open into an angled easel, so the paper or sketchbook you're painting on props up instead of lying flat, and a snap-on mixing tray can be attached to the left, right, or bottom of the case depending on how you're holding it. A thumb ring built into the underside of the case lets you hold it steady in one hand while painting with the other.

The half-pans are student-grade pigment cakes that dissolve as soon as a wet brush touches them, and the set includes a refillable 9 ml water brush with a detachable tip, plus a removable sponge for cleaning the brush between colors.
