The MONO Edge highlighter has a clear plastic guard wrapped around its chisel tip, which keeps the felt edge from fraying when it's run along a plastic ruler or metal straightedge — something an unprotected felt tip wears down on fairly quickly. It's also dual-tipped: a 3.8 mm chisel end for highlighting blocks of text, and a 0.4 mm fine bullet tip on the other end for small checkmarks or margin notes, without needing a second pen for detail work.

The ink is formulated specifically not to pull up or smear the ink underneath it, so highlighting over printed text, fineliner lines, or regular ballpoint handwriting doesn't turn it into a blurred mess the way some highlighters do.
