The Signo Broad uses a 1.0 mm tungsten carbide tip and a thick, water-based gel ink built for full opacity — it covers dark paper in one pass rather than the streaky, semi-transparent result you get from most gel pens on black or dark cardstock. That makes it a different kind of tool than a standard gel pen: the metallic and solid white shades specifically are meant for writing or drawing directly onto black paper, where a regular pen would barely show up at all.

The ink is uni-ball's "Super Ink" formula, drying smudge-proof, fade-resistant, and waterproof, so it can also be layered as a highlight or accent on top of a wet watercolor wash without bleeding into the surrounding color. The grip section is soft rubber over a plastic barrel.
