The Kuru Toga in blue uses an internal gear that rotates the 0.5 mm lead by about 9° every time the pencil lifts off the page. That solves a problem most mechanical pencils have: a standard lead wears down at a constant angle, forming a slanted wedge that makes lines grow thicker and smudgier as you write. Because this lead rotates instead, it wears down evenly into a cone shape, so the line stays thin and crisp without needing to twist the pencil by hand.

A small eraser sits under the top push-cap for quick corrections, and the lower grip is transparent, so the orange gear mechanism is visible turning as you write.
